The way I work!

Our final, on going project for the semester was based on the process that we go about working through to a solution. I am always writing multiple notes and writing little notes down on sticky notes. Also "what sparks me" is COLOR, whether its in the color palette of a room, fabrics, acessories, or flooring.

I'm moving back home from my first apartment for the summer. I'll be moving into my sororities dorms next semester so I'll be needing to leave a lot of things at home. I have a queen sized bed, vanity, mantle, desk, and window seat as my main pieces. I thought of a palette of seafoam, coral and neutral of grey or pink, orange, and neutral of tan. The way I plan on using these colors, I'd like to create an atmosphere that can be used as a comfortable, inspiring spare bedroom once I leave.

Presentation

My final presentation of the studio space for Stella McCartney was presented with three hand drawn perspectives (using marker and colored pencil), two sketch up images, materials, floor plan, history of client, and the four elevations of the studio.

Foust Display Board

My beautiful group! Drawing, sketching, painting, and photography that stinking Foust building!!! I'm sure that after one of the first assignments of drawing the Foust building, we were done looking at the exterior, but now we had to do the interior as well.

Gateway Final

Hands-on product! This is a visual of only one half of the structure but allows the display of the details in the paneling and wooden frame.

Monticello/Falling Water Trip

While at Monticello, I only did one incomplete sketch due to the amazing and colorful surroundings that made me want to wander around the entire plantation. Hopefully this sketch still gives you an idea of the structure we saw.

This was my first field trip of college! The bus ride wasnt the most fun part but I enjoyed laughing with my traveling partner, Natalie! Although I didn't do much sketching at Falling Water, I did get to sketch Matt while on the ride there. I don't know if Matt knows this but majority of first year girls are ga-ga over him!!!

Inspiration Sketches

Our assignment was to research tons of different artists and different styles. After picking an artist and style, we immitate their strokes and colors using our own building as the subject.

Gateway... to History

Going into this group project, we are given a specific time period (my groups being 13th century-Gothic) and individually we came up with ideas of a large "gateway" that'd represent our time period. I focused more on the pointed arches and vaulted ceilings. After collaborating with the group, we decided on a simpler design of a pointed arch.

Create A Ritual

Researching rituals across the world and individually, I focused on the universal sign of acceptance and respect : a handshake. I started out with the idea of a wooden beam that resembled a peace pole with slots for a glove to be placed in. After finding a beautiful piece of walnut that my father provided, I decided to etch out a place for the glove to be placed on the wood.

Foust Outdoor Sketches

Everytime I see this building I think of drawing it during first semester! While still drawing the outside of the building, I walked around the landscape, climbing up fire escapes, taking images of ventilations, and numerous angles. Then sketching the images with few details like shading and texture but not exploring much further... YET! Next up is 5 more detailed sketches of these thumbnails.

Watercolors 101

My first real attempt with using watercolors since I was in elementary school and I LOVED it! We had to pick 3 accessories on someone and explore the effect of light and shading on the item and their bodies. Skin color had to be the hardest thing to mix and try to make accurate. Other than that, it was so much fun seeing the final product and the variation in colors adds so much to the drawings and sketches. I can't to explore more.

Magazine Layout Recreation

This is Glamour Magazine, September 2009 (with Miley Cyrus on the cover!) and I chose this layout because of the structured layout with the bold band of color that allowed an area for text. My drawings emphasized the first week back to school in Spring 2010 Semester. I got to go tothe UNC vs Wake game, find the perfect studio desk, as well as enjoy Coffeeology with my friends every morning!!
