Dreaming BIG

This saying has become one that I think of quite often. I have a printed image of it framed on my desk. For the past couple months I've been actively emailing, calling, and even having a few phone interviews with wedding planners about a full-time internship next summer.

As required for my major, I have to complete 480 hours (SOO MANY!) next summer. I never got to study abroad so I have always told myself that I would spend my internship outside the state of North Carolina... and, well, that's what I'm doing!! I've emailed 16 (my lucky number!) different wedding planners in the cities of Chicago, NYC, London, Paris, the Hamptons, the Cape and even one in Monterey, California (where I was born!). I believe that internships are the most effective way to build your resume, network, and gain hands-on experience you can't learn in college. I want as many internships as I can get my hands on! Luckily, I heard back from half of the companies I reached out to. Only a couple were immediate "no"s and the others were optimistic about talking further with me or wanting me to contact them again early next year when they were ready to look for an intern.

I have high hopes for my summer in 2013. Hopefully I'll have some more definite updates soon!

Blue & Green.

The light blue in the background, green of the plant, and pink of the candy are the three colors we have decided on for our new palette in the living room at my apartment! I love the calm, sophisticated yet fun combination and can't wait to make new pillows & purchase new wall decor!

The beautiful sofa at the end of the bed is a soft touch to the bedroom that I'd love to incorporate with my new bedroom plan by adding a small chair and full ottoman.

This living. Is so cute.

My addiction to closets is still just as strong! I enjoy the crisp white shelves of this closet along with the delicate touch of color in the background and lighting.

Miss Organized 2011

I came across this office space on cococozy and it really makes me want to create a room with bookshelves and an interesting mix of chairs, around a crisp white table. Hopefully I'll be able to create a space like this soon.

For a more upbeat, colorful environment, I snagged this picture with my phone of a space in the Lilly Pulitzer showroom. The pin up wall of fabric is common but the fabric is wonderful and the metal buttons trimming the fabric is a nice dynamic. Also the panels are not attached to the wall so they are movable. Other then that, the pink and turquoise pulled from the plaid print is what really catches my eye and adds a comfortable leave to your office space.

Inspiration

The installation on the ceiling of this space, sparked inspiration for my proposal of an installment in the ceiling of a lobby that we are exploring in my Studio class. In addition to the unique ceiling, the curvilinear repetition in the space really catches my attention. I love the cut out for the couch and bookshelf in the middle of the space.

The wallpaper mixed with the sheen and color of the pillows and cushions is quite appealing!!


Painted furniture is a popular trend I'm finding on blogs right now. I'm going to be taking on my own project of painting my night stand pink for my new apartment bedroom that will be mainly white, with a light grey accent wall, and then accent pieces of light pink.

Mix & Match patterns, fabrics and colors in this large living room area is something I'd love to do in my new apartment living room with my two sorority sisters.

Mom's Favorite Color: Turquoise

I got my mother's full attention when I showed her the website of Toronto interior decorator
Holly Dyment. Any shade of blue, but mainly turquoise, makes her weak in the knees!!



Another amazing site with colorful eye-candy is the Chicago-based Civility Design. So much personality, so much FUN! The Fontana Arte chandelier in the living room is fantastic, along with those fuchsia sofas.

And finally..... Daniela of Aesthetic Oiseau created this "to die for" kitchen that so many people will fall for.

Coral Obsessed

I am in awe at the beautiful headboard and the patterned throw pillows paired with the coral quilt.

Two rooms stood out to me most:




A small seating area with a painted ottoman, crisp couch & chair with patterned pillows. Even the newel post of the stairs and server add a unique antique touch to the refreshing room.




Anything in the range of pink or coral AND involving anything nautical hits a place in my heart! Yet again, I'm noticing a pattern in my likes of a simple neutral, topped with pops of colors. Another focal point of this room is the fushcia wall with orange leaves, pulling in another rich color.
