Resolutions

Looking forward to the New Year, I've made a few traditional resolutions that I'm aiming for this year.

  1. TRAVEL: I will finally be graduating from college in December and will hopefully be starting a full time job right after so I want to try and check some places off my list! New Orleans, Atlanta, The Cape, Pigeon Forge, Nashville, and California are on the top of my list right now!
  2. Raise my GPA: I would love to finish my last year of college on a high note.
  3. Car: Get. A. New. Car. That's all that needs to be said for this one!
  4. Find an internship: I've always been determined to find my last, full time internship outside the state of NC to get a broader area of connections, insight to different regions, and it'd be very exciting to live somewhere different for a whole summer.
  5. Lose 10-15 pounds: Everyone always has the weight lose resolution and I'm continuing mine. I'm proud to share that I've already lost 12 pounds since July and another 10-15 would take me to my goal weight!
  6. Read more: My goal for this resolution is to read at least one book a month. I've got a great list that I'm really looking forward to.

"Just get me a really big closet"

One of my favorite spaces in a room is the closet and vanity. I can not wait until the day that I get to design my own bedroom complete with an enormous closet to display my beloved attire! Antique furniture mixed with contemporary, transparent, and graphic pieces is the way to grab my attention. Not to mention an oversized mirror, fresh flowers, and a few decorative books. Below are a collection of images I found on tumblr and HRH collection's blog.

New Years in Charlotte

Happy New Year y'all!!! I hope that everyone had a safe and wonderful night of celebrating! This New Year, I celebrated in downtown Charlotte with my wonderful Big, Lauren! We honestly had no set plan on where we wanted to go to but we ended up going to a fun bar called Connelly's, close to the Epicenter, where everyone seemed to be going to. It was a great night.

My Big wore an adorable Robert Rodriguez lace dress with patent, Mary Jane pumps and a gold sequin wristlet. I wore a Forever 21 dress with lace shoulder cut outs and a slight asymmetrical hem along with platform booties and a silver sequin clutch from H&M.

Reminiscing

High school seems like it was such a long time ago and so many of my friends have gone off on paths that we never knew we'd go. I'm so happy that I was able to connect with my great friends, Brooke and Josh, over the holiday break. The top picture was taken at the local bar, The Wooden Nickel, in our hometown where we caught up on each others' lives. It's crazy how you can be away from some people for a couple years and come back and laugh until you cry!

The next two images are from 2009 when they visited me in Greensboro and also at Brooke's apartment in Raleigh.

The Big Apple

The trip to New York City, my mom and I were able to take together was unforgettable. It proved to me that I'm growing up to be just like her and she is my best friend!! We stayed in an adorable lodge in Chelsea that was perfect. It didn't take us long to find our way to the main hot spots, like Times Square, Central Park, 9/11 Memorial, Chinatown and Rockefeller Center. We even used the subway a few times. My favorite area, by far, was Central Park! The beautiful park in the middle of such an enormous city was incredible. There were many locals preforming for tips doing things their great at like singing, playing an instrument, stunting, and even making huge bubbles! While we were in Times Square, my mom and I heard a commotion on a corner where a performer was going to do some tumbling so I was immediately drawn to watch. Little did we know that my mom would be chosen to be one of five bystanders to become part of the act! It was just a hilarious memory that I could never forget. Another interesting memory was tackling the determined individuals of Chinatown. I got some great knock-off pieces and made my momma proud by haggling down prices! Even though it was a short trip, the laughs and memories we made will be ones we tell for a long time.

My mom has always been such a huge fan of the Rockettes and when this bus passed, we took the moment to goof off a little!
